Aug 30, 2016:
Redefine Properties' commitment to best practice stakeholder reporting was rewarded once again at the 2016 Ernst & Young's Excellence in Integrated Reporting Awards today when it was ranked 5th in the top 10 companies.
Redefine Properties' report was singled out as an excellent example of how a property company can tell its value creation story. This is the second year in a row that Redefine Properties finds itself in the impressive list of firms heralded for their integrated reporting. Last year, Redefine was ranked 6th in the top 10 of the JSE's Top 100 companies.
Leon Kok, Financial Director, Redefine Properties, says "We regard the integrated report as a formidable tool to communicate with our stakeholders."
"The report is an outcome of our ongoing efforts to enhance communication with our stakeholders in a forthright manner that addresses prospects and challenges and remains for us, a benchmark for disclosure and accountability."
"The integrated report offers our stakeholders a window into how we are creating value both inside and outside of the company. The key benefit to integrated reporting is the way it's deepened our sustainability focus and helped embed greater levels of integrated thinking throughout our organisation."
According to the adjudicators, the report highlights and provides a comprehensive view of risks and is complemented by a number of risk heat maps that provides an understanding of the short to long term risks facing the company. The report also provides an excellent description of the companies' business model that includes primary business activities as well as the outcomes.
"We are delighted to receive recognition that our integrated reporting journey is on the right track and it motivates us to continue improving our stakeholder communication," says Kok in conclusion.
