Aug 14, 2008:
A new West Coast hotel will be coming into operation in September.
Shelley Point Coastal Lodge is sited within the 160 hectare Shelley Point security estate, where some 1,000 erven have now been sold. The estate will ultimately have 1,000 luxury apartments and 1,200 houses.
Shelley Point has its own nine hole golf course - and will in the next few years have a natural harbour and slipway for small and medium size boats and yachts.
The new hotel is made up of two main sections. The first is the recently completed R36m double storey Country Club which has a five star restaurant and bar, a coffee shop, a lounge area leading onto a sundeck verandah, an ultra-luxurious conference centre, a children/teenagers' area, a swimming pool and a gymnasium.
The second section, now being completed and handed over, consists of a two-storey apartment block with fully furnished one and two bedroom units which can be bought by those wishing to invest there. Some 24 of these units have their own living rooms and balconies. A further 50 rooms will be built by 2010.
Overnight accommodation in the new hotel is expected to cost in the region of R900 per unit or R450 per person per night. The management has promised that the cost of meals in the restaurant will be very definitely competitive with those of similar upmarket facilities in Cape Town.
