Jul 31, 2007:
The Tulbagh Hotel in Tulbagh, a four-star country hotel in the heart of the historic and picturesque village of Tulbagh with its 32 National Monuments, is now for sale at R7m.
Says Sean Biden, MD of the Seeff Winelands Group: "This is a fabulous listing. It has a proper English pub - the most brilliantly stocked pub that I have ever seen! The Tulbagh Hotel has five en suite bedrooms and also has three restaurants (a steak house, Italian restaurant called the Italian Job and the main dining room in the main hotel) all run from the central kitchen."
There are also small business conference facilities, and around the courtyard there is space to add another three rooms. There is also owners' accommodation and another house on the premises comprising two bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen and lounge. The accommodation is rated class AA Superior, which is the exquivalent of an AA international 5-star rating.
Adds Biden: "The Tulbagh is a fine example of a well-run guest establishment, and we feel that it is extremely marketable and priced competitively. It is a beautiful old building and has much character, including oregon floors. It offers everything you could wish for when you take a trip out of the city. This hotel presents a great opportunity to someone who would like to own and operate their own boutique hotel, or it could be separately managed."
The hotel is within walking distance of the historic and well known Church Street, and most of Tulbagh's restaurants.
